Dr. Manfred Chiang earned his degree in medicine from the Medical
College of Wisconsin in 1987. He completed his residency at the
Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals in 1992. Following
Dr. Chiang's residency he served in the United States Navy as a
general surgeon from 1992 to 1996. Dr. Chiang is board certified in
General Surgery and is an active member of the American Society of
Bariatric Surgeons. Dr. Chiang created a bariatric program for the
U.S. Navy in 1992.
Dr. Chiang joined Brookfield Surgical Associates ( an affiliate of the
Bariatric Institute of Wisconsin) in 1996. He is one of a few
Wisconsin surgeons to use advanced laparoscopic surgical techniques.
These techniques are minimally-invasive, requiring only small
incisions and therefore giving patients a faster recovery with less
risk from complications.
Dr. Chiang was one of Wisconsin's first surgeons to perform
laparoscopic bariatric surgery, both the LAP-BandŽ and Roux-en-Y
gastric bypass procedures. He has helped hundreds of patients achieve
a slimmer life through bariatric surgery.
Dr. Chiang is an avid sports enthusiast and enjoys tennis, snow-skiing
and bicycling. << Back To Surgeon
