Dr. David Engstrand earned his medical degree from the Medical
College of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1981. He completed his internship
and residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated
Hospitals. Dr. Engstrand is board certified in General Surgery and is
an active member of the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons.
Dr. Engstrand joined Brookfield Surgical Associates in 1987. He is one
of a few Wisconsin surgeons to use advanced laparoscopic surgical
techniques. These techniques are minimally-invasive, requiring only
small incisions and therefore giving patients a faster recovery with
less risk from complications. He was one of Wisconsin's first surgeons
to perform laparoscopic bariatric surgery, both the LAP-BandŽ and
Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedures. He has helped hundreds of
patients achieve a slimmer life through bariatric surgery.
Dr. Engstrand's personal interests include snow-skiing, water sports
and he also enjoys coaching little league baseball.
